Teaching Children to Be Well Groomed
Good Grooming
It's leading to start your day off on the right foot. A good way to do this is to get up and groom yourself well. But what does this mean? It's a head to toe job. All things need addressing and when you are well groomed you feel great about yourself and have a determined thinking attitude. This makes you pleasant to be around and rubs off on others around you. If you don't look after yourself it can be nasty to others. It can even be disrespectful to our parents, grandparents, teachers and friends. If we don't care about how we look, we don't care how it affects others either. Bad smells can be nasty to others. Not taking care of ourselves is showing our parents we did not listen to their teachings and don't care what they think.
Washing Hands
It's leading to wash your hands before you eat anything or even put in order food or drink. As you know germs are invisible and a cold can live on a surface for up to 5 days. Tummy bugs are precisely passed on this way too.
Hair
It's leading to keep your hair clean, shampoo and health your hair at least once a week. If you do a lot of sport and get sweaty then wash your hair after your sports session. Greasy, oily hair is not thoughprovoking and can smell offensive. You may be able to live with the smell but it's inconsiderate to think other don't mind the smell.
It's leading to brush or comb your hair when you get up and before you go out the door. If your hair is long it needs extra special attentiveness to look after. You may want to put it up if you are going out, so it stays tidy or carry a small brush in your bag. But remember it's not diplomatic to brush your hair in public, you can do it in the rest room.
Never brush your hair in the kitchen where food is being ready and wear your hair tied back when you are in the kitchen establishment food.
Skin
Your skin needs nurturing just like the rest of your body. The best way to do this is to eat wholesome foods, drink plentifulness of water, get at least 8 hours sleep a day and 20 minutes of sunlight for your vitamin D. Vitamin D is very leading for holding your immune theory strong and fighting off infections. Be sure to wear a hat when you are out and about and sun block. Sun baking in the harsh sun today is not advisable. Too many citizen even as young as 18 have died from melanomas. So a sun shirt is advisable to wear whilst swimming at the beach for hours.
Teeth
It's leading to brush and floss your teeth morning and night. As you get older you will be responsible for the dentist bills and they are in the thousands. Arresting is a great cheaper solution.
It's leading to floss your teeth too to keep your teeth in good health.
It's leading to brush your tongue too as a lot of bacteria lives on your tongue. A diet that does not consist of too much sugar/processed food is the best way to forestall this.
Use a mouth wash like Listerine and gargle for 30 seconds to kill all the bacteria and have clean fresh breath.
Fingernails & Toenails
Use a nail brush in the shower to clean underneath your nails.
Keep them short so they don't acquire dirt underneath them. The dirt that is underneath them is often dead skin, and not your own! So next time you go to bite your nails, think about what you are putting in your mouth.
Do not cut or clean your nails anyway but in the bathroom or outside. No one wants to see somebody else's toe nail clippings on the coffee table.
Showering
It's good hygiene to shower daily. If you go camping and you skip a day or too that's okay. But on a daily basis its valuable to have a quick shower daily. And that means washing yourself head to toe with the soap or body wash. Pay close attentiveness to all those nooks and crannies behind your ears, your neck, back and front, your armpits, and your groin, plus the soles of your feet. Feet that smell have a fungus on them which you can get rid of with a pumice stone and a good foot moisturiser. Air your joggers surface and put some talcum powder in them to soak up any odours or bi-carbonate soda.
Bedroom
Take pride of your bedroom. It is your own space. You can do what you like with it, but it's much nicer if you know where to find things because you put things away as you use them. There's nothing worse when you are running late because you can't find things. You don't want to request your friends into your room and it stinks of dirty washing. Put your dirty washing in the laundry basket when you take it off, it does not belong on your floor. Don't eat or drink in your bedroom, that is just an open invitation to mice, cockroaches and ants. Strip your bed once a week, on a weekend and wash your sheets and pillow case. Don't just wait for mum or dad to do it. You are old enough now and showing them you are growing into a responsible adult will regularly mean more privileges.
School Bag
Empty out your school bag every afternoon when you get home from school and put any dirty gym clothes in the washing basket in the laundry. Take out your lunch box, put any rubbish in the bin and wash out your lunch box ready for the next day. Put your school bag away in it's place so you can find it in the morning.
